stripes

Sometimes I daydream about what I want to make for a long time.
Even if it isn’t a difficult project if I really want it the daydream may last for years. This was the case with these simple black and white knee socks.
I guess I’m still playing dress up and these perform well with fairy tales in mind.

The pattern is top down with short row heels and toes. Right and left heels worked on different needles so the join runs along the inside of the leg.
Yarn: Lang Jawoll in black and ecru.

I’m very satisfied with my socks and ready to cast my next spell.

Oh, these are great! How did you eliminate the color jog?

Those socks are beyond fabulous. Have you found the formula to keep them from falling down?

You know you're killing me with all these fabulous knee highs! These are so great!

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Marnie, these stay up better than the others, seems the longer the top ribbing the better the staying power. These have 4 1/2" of ribbing at the top.

Hi Kat,

I've been a fan of your knitting site for a coupla years(I also made your Knitty denim skirt pattern) and have been lurking. These socks are great. I've never been a sock knitter but you 're def. inspiring me to try!

Are these socks in cotton or wool?Is the yarn self-striping? --Andrea

Hi Andrea,
The yarn is a wool blend sock yarn and I used two colors to make the stripes. Ava asked in the comments how I avoided the jog and the answer is I didn't but at this gauge the jog doesn't really show. I made the right and left heels on different needles so that the join runs along the inside of the leg of both socks.
Thanks for stopping by!

Lovely socks! Sometimes obsessions need to be realized to be fully exorcised. You're infectious though! I might have to make a pair too :)

I must be the only person in Knitterdom to have not made a pair of socks. Those socks however may change that! Maybe it was the combination of knees and barely glimpsed undergarments? My husband just walked into the office, wondering where the Irish coffee was, spotted your pic and said: My, those are pretty! That is an endorsment.
