I bought a fun book of knitting patterns, Knit 2 Together by Tracey Ullman and Mel Clark. What can I say; I have to make those Witches Britches. So I am. Eek! Striped of course.
I haven’t worn shorts in over ten years, so I’m not sure if I’ll wear these. That’s why I sketched them to see if I’ll wear them. Ha ha ha. Hiding underneath the striped fabric is the part of the sketch where Felix is pulling me.
The style is a lot like the skirts I knit, which is why I like them and think there’s a chance I’ll actually wear them. I’ve lengthened the leg from 10” to 15”.
Stripe knitting is my current love so they have to be striped and striped britches are very witchy. They're worked in yarn from my stash, in two shades of Naturelle Cotton. I’m not crazy about the colors but striping them is giving them a new life that is just plain fun.

Are you knitting these flat or in the round?
I'm knitting them flat. I considered going in the round but decided not to in case I don't like the fit. They should be easier to alter if worked flat.
Colots--is what we use to call them way back when..Actually they are having a re-sergence---Bring the book in for me to see on Sunday--OK? I think the longer length will insure you wearing them and I love your sketch and the hair do...
I love the pants and the hairdo! I would wear them!
I was thinking the same thing Edna did - these look like culottes, which should be perfect! These give me all kinds of fun design ideas! I love them, and I think the colors will be fun and very witchy.

This is my first time posting to your blog. I'm a big fan of your designs and have been doing some designing of my own recently mostly with Elizabeth Lavold's Hempathy yarn (knitty.com just accepted a skirt design for their summer issue)...anyway I love these long shorts and actually just made a pair for my 8 year old daughter out of Hempathy and they came out beautifully....I'm interested to see a similar thing in adult size..can't wait to see how they turn out.
