things

This Saul Steinberg drawing (from 1971) says it all. Is there anything else? I have (books), here are some images that inspire me.

Embroidered coverlet, Mexican dated 1786, image from American Quilts and Coverlets in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Wouldn't these characters make charming dolls?

The next few are from Knot ISBN978-4-07-257058-6. Click the photos to see them bigger.

ETA: Sources for Japanese craft books Kinokuniya. I shop at the store in Los Angeles. Here is a link to Knot on Amazon Japan. I haven't ordered from them before so I don't have advice on how to navigate the site. I also found Knot listed on Yes Asia. I have ordered books from Yes Asia before. It's pretty straightforward.

Love the American Quilts couple! If you ever get to Vermont, you'll have to visit the Shelburne Museum http://www.shelburnemuseum.org/collections/detail.php?id=9 - amazing quilts!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful books. I am really interested in "Knots". Could you suggest a source for it?

Kat, thanks for the "Knots" sources. I was thinking today about that wonderful asymetrical cardigan you made with some creme yarn you bought on your travels. I was wondering if you are ever going to write a pattern for it? There's been talk on Michele's blog about attractive patterns for us bustier women. I think that cardigan would look great on everyone. Just wondering...

Awesome books...I am addicted to Japanese craft, sewing, knitting books. There are a few good sources on eBay.

Oh I just visited Kinokuniya in Seattle. I would surely have bought Knot if I'd seen it. I think Kinokuniya does mail order too. Not sure about the prices.
